What should I do about this student violin teacher I'm seeing?
He is a good teacher in terms of what I learn from him, but when it comes to 'etiquette' or communicating with me, I" m starting to find it disrespectful. I've been seeing him for about over a month, and I'm starting to think he's trying to lose me a student. When he cancels he forgets to reschedule the lesson when he says he will, then when I message him he'll apologize and say the reason he couldn't reschedule was because he couldn't. But he should be able to tell me that. Also how he easily changes around the lesson time, it's like he treat this 'experience' with me rather informally. The one time he even tried to raise his fees during the lesson Saying he'll take 50 for the hour but only 20 for half hour. And then I reminded him he advertised his price at 40 an hour already. The latest one has been my violin lesson was cancellled today, because of some apparent family emergency, and then he said he's available friday afternoon. I then message back immediatly to ask if he's available at this certain, and now he just hasn't replied. So he has not confirmed the time with me, and I have a feeling he won't. So what am I to do? Go chasing him and asking if there will be a lesson? Or should I 'make him learn a lesson' by not asking or bringing by violin that day, and then he can be left wondering why I'm not turning up? ? What do you think? Should I just find a new teacher if I feel this person is being respectful in the way he conducts the student teacher relationship? I am also progressing well so I wouldn't think thats the reason he would want to drop me and I'm learning the violin because it's something I always wanted to do. I am in college.Sorry I have made a mistake in Line 5, it should be " the reason he couldn't call back was because he couldn't find another slot."

Is a student violin really necessary?
Is a student violin really necessary? I want to start the violin next month and I just want about $1000 $2000 violin that is a good quality violin. I don't want to pay for a $300 $400 violin if I'm gonna have to switch again. So is a student violin really necessary?
Should I get a student violin or a professional violin?
I currently have a student violin which I bought second hand for 50. I've recently had a few problems with it, not through the violin itself but it needing some standard repair. Just recently one of the strings has gone completely out of whack and I cannot seem to get it back into tune no matter what I do, and because of work and the Christmas holiday period I've been unable to get to my local violin shop to get it fixed. It's still unrepaired and I have a lesson on Friday, for which I've not been able to properly practice for.So I was considering buying a second violin to use as a backup for my current one. But I was unsure whether to buy another student violin or to just go ahead and buy a professional one. Logic tells me to go with a student violin, but I plan on buying a professional one when I advance anyway, so I'm unsure whether to just get a professional one and use that as my backup if my student one fails, and to use that during my exams. The guy at my local violin shop said I'd be looking at around 250 if I wanted a decently priced violin that would make a difference to the sound. I don't know how much new student violins go for. But I definitely need a backup violin so I'm not stuck without an instrument to practice on.Which do you think would be best? Play safe and get a student one, and wind up eventually with two student violins and a professional one in the future, or just go ahead and buy a professional one?
Do student violins have a crappy sound?
i want to buy a violin, and im a beginner. I definately know I will play it forever I play other instraments. I don't have a lot of money to spend, but is it even worth it to buy a student violin? Everything I've been reading leads me to believe that if you want a decent violin you have to spend several thousand dollars. Is that true?
