Okay , My teacher told me that My bow is like too tight and now the hair is too loose , she told me to buy a new one . I went looking , and This guy at the shop showed me the new one , but the hair was as loose as mine , but the hair squeezed up to the bow was tighter then my bow . but the hair was loose when the bow was untightened . Any suggestion's buying a bow for a 15" viola?
My viola bow is broken....help please?
I have no idea how I broke it never dropped banged it anywhere.... and it is a pretty expensive bow $500 . The stick part has a crack in it, so if I were to tighten the bow, it's most likely to snap in half.Is there any way to fix it or do you know if there is any way to return it for a new one? Do they have " warranty" ? I bought the bow about 1 year ago .And any ideas to why my bow broke in the first place?Thank you in advance

Where should I buy an affordable, intermediate, round pernambuco viola bow?
I'm going to save up some money this year to buy a nice bow before going off to college next year to pursue a music major. Since bows are half of my sound I'm willing to invest some money into it. But My viola itself was about $700 marked down from a lot more though I don't want to spend more than two hundred, since I would eventually probably like to get another nice bow too. Even though I know they're important I don't think I should pay any more than about a fourth to a third of the instrument itself at this stage in my music career.I want to try pernambuco because I've just heard a lot about it, and I have always had a thing with using bows made out of real wood. The beauty wood itself, in the instrument and the bow, was one of the things that made me originally decide to choose viola, and I just want to stick with that. I know composite bows can be great but I just would really like a pernambuco one.The only issue is the cheapest round intermediate bow I've found was about $240 at sharmusic and there were cheaper ones at south west strings, but the in home trail thing sharmusic does would be really great because I need to try it before I can commit to it fully. So ideally, if anyone knows a website where I can find a place that is willing to either do in home trails or returns on bows at cheap prices I would really appreciate it if you could help me out. I would just go to a music store but there's only one in my town that is ridiculously over priced that doesn't even specialize in stringed instruments.

The instruments at my school are really old and bad, and it is really only to be expected that with little pride in the music department, the bows would be mistreated. All the bows I find are cracked at the frog or are tightened to the point of no return, so here is my question How can I repair a cracked frog.How can I loosen an extremely tightened bow?
