Can u put viola strings on a violin and tune it like a viola?
i have a violin that is 4 4 size, i know that a viola can be the size of a violin as in smaller than average and i wuz wondering if you could put that size viola strings on a violin and tune it like a smaller viola. i have always liked the viola better but i was pushed into violin instead by my parents. please help
What brands of viola strings are good?
I am in my high school orchestra. I have a Francesco Cervini viola. I have been using Pirastro Tonica strings on it for the past few years, no complaints. I'm overdue for a new set of strings and I was wondering if anyone had any other recommendations?
Looking for new viola strings. Any suggestions?
I've been playing with obligato strings, and I really love the tone. I have a warm viola so they really bring that out nicely in the G and C strings. However, they lack some of the response I'm looking for sometimes, especially in my vibrato. In my playing style, I use a lot of vibrato to bring out climax points in phrases, and I need strings that can handle that. the only issue is that I don't want to lose the warm, thick tone in the lower strings. Are there any strings that can handle both?I forgot to mention that I'm currently using a larson A string, which I do like the tone of very much.
HELP! My viola string broke, and I have a concert on Monday!?
The string was loose, so I tried tightening it slightly, and it broke. I can't get it fixed until Monday by my Viola teacher, but thats the day of our concert. I don't know what to do, because I don't have and extra strings, and even if I did, I don't know how to put them on.What do I do?
What are some good quality viola strings?
hey i need some new strings for my viola and i didnt know what some of the best quality strings were. please tell me what you think
How does a viola string break?
Are there any other ways for it to break other than tuning it incorrectly?
What are the best viola strings?
I've done my research, looked at prices, and I'm still confused. What are the best overall favorite viola strings? What type of core should I be looking for? Does it depend on the sound?I've been playing for 11 years, and my viola has a sweet, soft, mellow sound to it, while still being able to project its voice. I'm not looking for anything bright, but something that allows me to maintain my current sound while having a little better quality. I had Dominants for years, and I'm no longer pleased with them, and now have Helicore I'm breaking in my current strings, still, so I do not know how I think about them yet .
How to fix a viola string that's not long enough?
I accidentally broke my viola string and now I can't use it anymore. I tried looking on the internet to help me fix it, I thought that what was on answer could help but now I realized that the string isn't long enough. Help I have no other strings or anything so is there a way to just fix it by using the same string?
What type of viola strings will give me the warmest, most powerful tone?
My viola has a pretty warm tone itself. I really liked the way obligatos sounded on it but they did give me the strength I was looking for...it could just be my viola doesn't have that quality to it but I feel like I could do better. I have evah pirazzis on it now but is bland IMO so I'm looking for something else. I looked into Pirastro Passiones and dominants thomastik infeld but I'm not sure which to try. I've never used gut core strings and I'm not sure if my teacher would be particularly fond of me trying them so I'm leaning towards the dominants. Which will produce a warmer, fuller tone dominants or obligatos?they didn't give me the tone I was looking for
What kind of viola strings should i get?
I need an A string that is durable and sounds good. I usually use dominant strings but the A string is aluminum wound so it breaks easily. Ive been playing for two years and i am in the top orchestra in my school, so i need one that sounds really good. My price range is about 35 dollars for just the A string, but if it is a really good string than i can go higher. Thanks for helping.
What should I do if my new viola strings sound really funky?
I just put on new strings and they sound pretty bad. They were a $50 set and while they sound really clear, they sound weird and tinny and they make a strange buzzing noise. I don't know what I'm supposed to do now...
What kind of viola strings would you recommend I get?
Before you say anything, I would ask my teacher this, but she's going to be out of town for a few weeks and I need to buy new strings soon.Anyway, I need to get new strings for my viola soon so that I have fresh strings for all of my fall winter concerts and auditions. Right now I've been using Dominants since I've mostly been doing orchestral playing for the past few months. However, I'm going to be performing a solo piece with an orchestra this winter, as well as embarking on auditions for music festivals and college. So, I'm looking for a good string that projects well for solo playing as well as blends well for ensemble playing, since I'm still going to be playing in orchestras a lot. I don't really care about price, just sound Any suggestions?
Can tuning your viola strings everyday cause them to brake?
Dominant Viola Strings?
I just bought a pair of Dominant viola strings and I had the guy at the music store put them on, but he put them on wrong so now I got to do this myself and I'm kinda nervous because I've never done this before. How do I know which string is which? the Color scheme on the ribbon on the bottom is red green blue yellow but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Thanks for the help
