Differences in violin strings?
What's the difference between the Pirastro Wondertone Gold Label violin strings, the Pirastro Gold Label violin strings, and the Pirastro Wondertone Solo violin strings?Please don't refer to the String guide on violinist.com, that one doesn't tell the difference between these
Where is the cheapest place to buy violin strings?
I am looking for two sets of strings probably one will be Dominate but idk what i should get for the other set or where to get them.
Is there something wrong with my violin strings?
So on Saturday I bought new violin strings and I left my violin at the shop for maintenance, and I just got my violin back today. I was really excited but now I'm disappointed. I have dominants on the G D and A and a pirastro oliv for the E. I know that the strings have to stretch out but right now they're kind of harsh sounding. The E is alright, but the G and D are pretty bad and the A isn't as bad. The strings don't sound very nice and I play the same as I did before but my playing doesn't sound smooth anymore. Is it normal that the strings sound like this and will it get any better? I bought new rosin called 'Sherman's Violin Rosin' because the people at the shop said that the rosin I was using was ruining the finish on my violin, but they were able to get it off this time. The strings aren't screechy sounding, but its not smooth at all. Is it because of my new rosin? Do I need new strings?
How much does it cost to replace violin strings?
I am not going to get any special strings so hopefully it won't be too expensive??
Are Evah Pirazzi good violin strings?
I just got my violin set up with Evah Pirazzi's. I was using Dominant's for quite a while but the repair guy said that the Pirazzi's would be good on my violin. I have a Juzek violin, naturally a bright instrument. I would like to know some pro's and con's on these strings.
Scared of own violin strings?
I'm learning how to play violin, but I'm terrified of my strings snapping hence the name of my question . Every time I touch the pegs, and hear the strings stretch, I end up throwing it back into the case. Therefore, you could say I'm not practicing as much anymore since it requires to be re tuned a lot. The only way it gets tuned correctly again is if I have my friend who works at a violin repair shop to do it himself. To get to the point I need serious advice on how to over come this, because I want to get into LVA Las Vegas Academy very badly, but this is getting in the way.

How much does a standard e string cost???? I was plucking it to see if it was in tune but then it came back and smacked my hand. It made it bleed
Can I use denatured alcohol to clean violin strings?
Well, long story short, I went through a hard time and ended up not playing my violin for a bit. I always usually rub the rosin off after each use, but sometimes I forget for some reason, and I must have before I took a break So now the buildup is affecting my playing, and even if I scratch it off, it is still sticky. I used denatured alcohol to clean my bow hair once and it worked great, but will this work on my strings, or can it ruin them? Three are perlon and one is steel. Help I would rather not buy anything if I don't have to. Thanks

Obligato vs. Tonica (violin strings)?
What's you opinion?? Do you like the Pirastro Tonica or Obligato violin strings better? I have a picky ear and anything that sounds " tinny" I won't use.

How not to break violin strings?
So I've recently received a new factory made violin for my birthday. The strings were already on but of course I had to tune the strings up. Im aware that tension building on these strings needs to be done patiently or the strings will pop. But that blasted E string loves to lose tension whenever im not looking P.S. These are metal strings and the violin has fine tuners for each string.So i have to crank that sucker up even more and the string always breaks. The peg is slipping a good amount but I know that you have to push the peg in a little and then twist it. Maybe the string isnt placed right or i need some peg solution. What are your thoughts?
Violin strings on an electric violin?
I recently bought a Fender FV 3 electric violin. The strings that came with it were terrible, so I set off to buy new ones. I ended up buying Red Label strings. I normally go with Dominants, but I had little money and needed strings fast. Within a month, the winding came loose on the strings where the bridge is. The strings are now ruined and unplayable. I mean, I should've gone with Dominant strings because I knew Red Label strings were cheapo anyway... But I thought they would last longer than that. They only lasted a month So is it safe for me to go out and buy Dominant strings, or is it the strings at all? Is it my violin? Should I buy a particular brand?Anything helps.. Thanks
Where Can I Buy Violin Strings?
I purchased a violin in the Summer of 2010, I let my brother try it out and that idiot broke one of the strings. I haven't played it ever since, and I really want to. Is there anywhere besides ebay or amazon or craigslist that I can buy violin strings from?Thanks in advance Allison
