Switching from violin to viola - what are the differences?
Well, I play the violin. I'm not planning on actually switching instruments, but maybe in the future, I'll learn the viola. I know that the strings on a violin are G,D,A,E, and a viola is C,G,D,A. I know that the viola is written on the alto clef, which I can read, having learned my theory. So, besides this and the difference in size... are they pretty much the same? Are the positions the same and everything? Just wondering...Thanks I'm not 'fluent', so to speak, in the alto clef, but I can red it. I don't think I'll find switching between clefs difficult at all I play the piano. You may or may not know that the piano is written on the treble and bass clef, so I'm permanently reading two clefs at the same time, and often switching too. So that kind of... ability of changing clefs often is a kind of second nature to me. Thank god for piano's
Is it hard to switch from violin to viola?
I'm starting violin but i really like the sound of the viola. Im thinking of first learning how to play the violin and then switching to viola, so is it hard? This is tormenting since I really love both

I am in 10th grade and i currently play the violin. I absolutely hate it and hated it from the moment i started playing. I don't know what kept me going, I just like the idea of playing in an orchestra to be honest. Is the switch from violin to viola possible at this time or is it too late? How hard is it to switch from one instrument to another. I really like the bass to but i am not sure if i am too late or not. I plan on taking orchestra until I graduate so I would really like to play an instrument that i like for once. thanks
